| Things have been interesting the last few days. I have been doing a lot of work. Not school work, but work. Been playing with a lot of neat programs. I am back to running Linux on my Desktop. Even installed NWN on the system. I got Movable Type up and running, I am going to play with it and see how it goes. I might switch off of Xanga if it goes well. We shall see. I went and saw The Matrix: Reloaded, The IMAX Experience tonight. It was wicked awesome. A lot better than Star Wars on the IMAX. But we all knew that anyways. I have been reading Fight Club lately, not too shabby of a book. Saw Titus the other day with Mowgan and The Yan. It was delightful, in that really awesome, yet fucked up movie sort of way. I have also been doing a lot of thinking lately too. Primarily about how I am not Christian. Interesting concept, eh? I know that this is going to cause at least one person to IM me to try to find out what this means and attempt to sway my opinions a different way. But yeah. I probably should clarify why I am not a Christian. I am a trinitarian monotheist. That is the easiest explanation. Obviously that trinity consists of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. But what makes me non-Christian is my pluralist ideology. If you look at all of the major world religions you will notice one thing. That abstractly they are the same thing. They all poses the same core belief system. They all express faith in A higher being that was responsible for creation. So from an educated point of view what is to say that the Christian mode of expression is any more so valid than Jewish, Muslim, or Hindu expressions of faith? None of these religions can refute the existence of the other, except by sheer faith. So, how can I make a judgement as to what is the truest expression of "God?" I can't. So while I express my belief of a higher entity through a Christian font, I see no reason why my peer who is Muslim, Jewish, etcetra should be condemned and marked as wrong. If "God" is as compasionate as my Christian faith says he is, then ultimately anyone who adheres to their religion strongly and as compasionately as they can would not be wronged in the end. But yeah. That is just to give those who are going to confront me about this a bit of comprehension about what the fuck I am talking about. |
